What happens if the receiving gun dealer refuses transfer?
When making a purchase that requires transfer by a gun dealer, GunTab asks the buyer to select a local gun dealer (FFL) to receive the shipment and perform the transfer. GunTab instructs the buyer to call the gun dealer, ask specific questions, and declare: “the gun dealer agreed to this transfer”. It is the buyer’s responsibility to arrange each transfer.
If the buyer’s selected gun dealer receives the shipment, but refuses to perform the transfer, the buyer should immediately contact GunTab so the transaction can be marked as “transfer rejected”. That prevents the funds from being disbursed to the seller until there is an opportunity to resolve the problem.
If the problem cannot be resolved, then the merchandise must be returned to the seller. In this case, the buyer is liable for reimbursing all shipping costs and transfer fees incurred to resolve a transfer rejection. The buyer will receive a partial refund of whatever remains of their payment after those expenses are reimbursed.
In rare cases, the buyer’s gun dealer may decide the merchandise must be conveyed to the local police department for destruction. In this case, the buyer will not receive any refund.
