GunBroker Buyer's Protection Program - insufficient and unpredictable

GunBroker buyers often lose money to scammers in spite of GunBroker's "protection".

The GunBroker Buyer's Protection Program might not be what you expect. In fact, it's very limited:

  • $400 maximum reimbursement ($500 maximum minus $100 deductible)
  • Zero coverage for shipping, insurance, and sales tax
  • Not all claims approved

It's easy to see this protection program is insufficient and unpredictable. At least $100 of your payment is definitely not covered, and you don't know about the rest.

Real examples

Check out our case study of two GunBroker scam auctions, where one buyer relied on the GunBroker Buyer's Protection Program, and lost everything. (The other buyer relied on GunTab, and lost nothing.)

Scenarios by price

Analyze how much you will lose to a scammer if you rely on the GunBroker Buyer's Protection Program. The question is not whether you will lose money, the question is how much. Even if you assume GunBroker approves your claim, you will always lose between 20% and 100% of your payment.
